On Thursday, April 6th, the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame announced the Top 10 Finalists and Nominees for the 4th annual Bridge Builder Excellence Award. The BBEA honors and encourages excellence in the community, in the classroom, and on the field.
Award Criteria:
Football Excellence = 40%
Academics - Minimum 3.2 Core GPA = 30%
Exemplary School, Character, Community Citizenship, and Leadership = 30%
The 2023 Top 10 Finalists:
Mazeo Bennett - Greenville High School, WR
Tyler Brown - Greenville High School, WR
Joshua Daniels - West Florence High School, OL
Jaylen Foster - Emerald High School, RB
Blake Franks - Greenville High School, OL
Ricardo Jones - Silver Bluff High School, DB
Scott Saylor Jr - Carolina Forest High School, QB
La'Norris Sellers - South Florence High School, QB
Tanner Staton - Brookland-Cayce High School, QB
Will White - Dorman High School, DB
The winner will be announced at a "Heisman" style ceremony on April 20th at Zen in Downtown Greenville.
Below is the list of 85 nominees for the BBEA. The nominees were from schools all across the state of South Carolina and from all different levels/sizes of schools.
